Italgas gasometer rehabilitation, Rome Tiburtina

3TI has followed the Operations management for the reclamation and further demolition of the helical gasometer located within the Italgas metropolitan area of Roma Tiburtino adjacent to the Rome-L’Aquila motorway.
At reclamation time the gasometer, out of order, showed the basin full of water. A hydraulic guard telescopic gasometer with a total capacity of 100.000 cubic metres and 4 riser helical runners of 11m each. The reclamation and demolition intervention has foreseen first of all the emptying of the water basin through a connecting hose to the sewage system carried out by ITALGAS. After the water emptying stage, all the bottom residuals have been removed and the gasometer constituent parts reclaimed before being demolished and moved away. Particular attention has been paid to the removal of the joints containing asbestos present in the air pipe connectors external to the gasometer.
Moreover, before the removal, a check for the presence of asbestos in the gasometer telescopic element seals has been conducted.  The disposal of materials containing asbestos has been carried out according to the relative law in force.
