What does it take to design the venue for one of the world’s most iconic sporting events?

“Major international sporting events are opportunities to accelerate the transformation of cities. The real challenge for engineers is to design infrastructure that effectively responds to the needs of the event today, while respecting the place that hosts it,” says Alfredo Ingletti, Chairman & Founding Partner of 3TI Progetti, @fidic_events President-Elect and OICE Vice President.

For the 38th America’s Cup, 3TI Progetti developed the Technical and Economic Feasibility Design for the venue in Naples’ Bagnoli district, where sailing, public space and urban regeneration come together.

The project includes the design of the Fan Village and the coordination of the design process for the six Challenger Team Bases and the operational facilities supporting the competition, all conceived as a flexible system of modular, reversible structures that can be adapted to the event’s needs and integrated into the surrounding landscape.

More than a temporary event venue, the project reflects a broader approach to design, creating infrastructure that meets the demands of a global sporting event.
