Designing Agra Metro Corridor 1
Few places are transforming their urban infrastructure at the scale and pace of India. Across the country, rapidly expanding metro networks are changing the way millions of people move through fast-growing cities.
In Agra, this transformation is taking shape along a new metro corridor running from Sikandra to Taj East Gate, connecting the everyday life of the city with some of the places that have made it known around the world.
Extending for 14.25 km, Agra Metro Corridor 1 combines 6.569 km of elevated infrastructure with 7.681 km underground, connecting 13 stations, six elevated and seven underground, across the city.
Today, the project is at an advanced stage and the Design is substantially completed. The Priority Section between Taj East Gate and Mankameshwar Metro Station is already in operation, and overall construction is progressing well and safely.
The line will serve some of Agra’s most important destinations, including Agra Fort, Sikandra and the Taj Mahal area, while improving everyday mobility for an urban area of around two million inhabitants.
3TI Progetti is part of the Detailed Design Consultancy Consortium with Tata Consulting Engineers and LEAP Infraasys, working for Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC). The project brings together architecture, civil and structural engineering and rail systems, addressing the different requirements of underground and elevated infrastructure within a single integrated design.
From standardisation and constructability to passenger flows, safety and whole-life value, the design requires different disciplines and infrastructure typologies to work as one system.
