Design Stories: Oued Tlelat–Tlemcen High-Speed Railway Line in Algeria 🇩🇿

Our Design Stories series continues with a major step forward in high-speed rail infrastructure: The first section of the Oued Tlelat–Tlemcen High-Speed Railway Line in Algeria 🇩🇿

This ambitious project involves the construction of a 33 km double-track, electrified high-speed railway, crossing a wide plain at 550 meters above sea level. Designed to enhance connectivity and mobility, the line includes 12 viaducts spanning a total of 5.4 km, along with 4 underpasses, carefully integrated into a complex territorial context.

A key element of the project is the Bel Abbès–Sidi Lahcène connection, which serves as a strategic interchange between the new Oued Tlelat–Tlemcen HSR line and the existing railway network.

The works were divided into multiple segments to address local ground conditions and major constraints, including the presence of a gas pipeline and interferences with the new East–West motorway.
Designing the future of mobility means creating resilient, efficient, and forward-looking infrastructure.
