Detailed Design for the National Route No. 106 “Jonica” – Section 2, Lot 1: from Catanzaro to the Uria interchange

🚧 Detailed Design phase kicks off for the National Route No. 106 “Jonica” – Section 2, Lot 1: from Catanzaro (Km 0+000) to the Uria interchange (Km 7+500)🚗💨 On October 20, the detailed design phase officially began!

The new route, located further inland compared to the current alignment, is designed to enhance medium- and long-distance mobility and improve connections with surrounding mountain and foothill areas, providing a modern, safe and strategic infrastructure for Southern Italy.
The 7 km section of the main alignment includes:
• the upgrade of the existing Simeri Crichi interchange;
• construction of the new Soveria Simeri cloverleaf interchange and Uria trumpet interchange;
• 3 twin-tube natural tunnels (522 m, 604 m and 1,179 m);
• 4 separate carriageway viaducts (287 m, 479 m, 240 m and 239 m);
• 1 bridge (185 m);
• 6 underpasses.

The overall contract value amounts to approximately €425 million, marking a decisive step towards a safer, more efficient and sustainable mobility network across the Ionian area.
