MASE – UNDP – high-level Tunisian delegation focused on promoting the energy recovery sector from waste in Tunisia

♻️⚡Tunisia advanced its green agenda through a high-level mission to Italy held from February 10–13, 2026, focused on promoting the energy recovery sector from waste. Facilitated by UNDP, the initiative leveraged the August 2025 purchase tariff for biogas-based electricity and the success of the Djerba pilot project. A central roundtable at the UNDP Rome Centre on February 10 brought together Tunisian agencies and Italian institutions to discuss replicating this model in three to four new sites.

As a cornerstone of the Mattei Plan for Africa, the mission focused on promoting technology transfer and infrastructure partnerships.
Together with representatives from the Ministero dell’Ambiente e della Sicurezza Energetica and CDP Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Giorgia Gunnella, 3TI Senior Partner & International Division Director, explored private-sector opportunities and financing mechanisms aimed at building a climate-resilient Mediterranea, showcasing 3TI experience in the field.
