Paneuropean Railway Corridor IV Brasov-Simeria

3TI Progetti was in charge of works supervision of the rehabilitation of the railway section Sighisoara – Coslariu, part of Simeria-Brasov Railway (Paneuropean corridor IV), strategic project running through the PAN European corridor IV which ensures the circulation of passangers trains at 160 km/h and freight trains at 120 km/h, increasing transportation safety and enviromental protection.

The Sighisoara – Coslariu section covers a total distance of approximately 95 km having the following features:

• hydraulic piping and replacement of the reinforcements on all the lines;
• the construction of 33 new bridges/viaducts;
• 2 tunnels (401 m and 969 m long);
• approximately 8 km of support works;
• over 100 manholes;
• the rehabilitation of some bridges, stations and the existing stops;
• installation of the ERTMS signalling system (ETCS level 2 + GSMR) for the continuous and safe circulation of trans.
