Works are officially underway at the Rocca Cencia plant, marking a key milestone towards smarter, more sustainable waste management.
Following final approval of the detailed design, construction has begun on a state-of-the-art sorting and recovery facility for dry recyclables, integrated within the existing AMA S.p.A. site.
Designed for circularity
The new plant features two independent, flexible processing lines, capable of handling paper, cardboard and plastics separately or together, adapting seamlessly to incoming material flows.
Inside the project
At the core lies an 8,600 sqm prefabricated facility, structured into dedicated functional hubs:
– Processing area: almost 8,000 sqm equipped with advanced sorting technologies
– Reception area: a 350 sqm intake zone for incoming materials
– Offices & control room: a modern, elevated space for real-time operations
– Logistics upgrade: redesigned internal routes and expanded maneuvering areas to boost safety and efficiency
Sustainability by design
Fully compliant with CAM criteria and the DNSH principle, the project delivers environmental benefits that significantly outweigh temporary construction impacts.
An LCA study confirms the high environmental performance of the office area, featuring low emissions and partial energy self-sufficiency thanks to on-site photovoltaic production.
