Rome’s tram network is entering a new phase

Rome’s tram network is entering a new phase

Works have started on the new Severini Tram Depot in Rome, a key part of Rome’s programme to expand and strengthen its tram network.

Serving the future Togliatti Tram Line and, more broadly, the eastern quadrant of Rome, the depot will cover approximately 60,000 sqm and accommodate about 80 next-generation trams. Once completed, it will become Rome’s largest tram maintenance hub, providing a central facility for tram storage and maintenance.

The complex will include workshops, stabling areas and specialised maintenance facilities, as well as dedicated tram and road circulation. Its layout is designed to optimise operational flows and support different maintenance activities, while connecting to the future tram line along Viale Palmiro Togliatti.

The executive design integrates architectural, civil and tram systems engineering, supported by multidisciplinary BIM coordination to ensure the effective integration of the project’s different components.

Design developed in JV with @consorziohub and IRIDE. Thanks to @roma and @atacroma.
