A waterfront is not defined by its coastline. It’s defined by the way people experience it

A waterfront is not defined by its coastline. It’s defined by the way people experience it

The redevelopment of the Torrette Waterfront reimagines the relationship between the coastal locality of Torrette di Fano and the Adriatic Sea, transforming fragmented public spaces into a continuous coastal landscape designed for everyday life.

The intervention combines urban regeneration, public infrastructure and local mobility improvements to create a more accessible, inclusive and connected waterfront. A new linear promenade links Via Stelle di Mare with Giardino Tonucci through upgraded pedestrian routes, green areas and spaces for recreation and social interaction.

At the heart of the intervention is the Sea Amphitheatre, an engineered public structure that overcomes the change in elevation between the urban promenade and the beach, creating both a physical connection to the shoreline and a new civic space for community life and public events.

Designed to integrate infrastructure with the surrounding landscape, the project combines low-impact materials, natural textures and lifecycle-oriented engineering solutions, enhancing environmental performance while preserving the identity of the coastline.

3TI Progetti, Lead Designer of the joint venture with @proapworld, delivered the integrated design for the Comune di Fano, bringing together engineering, landscape architecture and public space to create a resilient and people-centred waterfront.
