Metro Line 4 Milan
The new M4 line in Milan provides a fast link between the East and South-West areas of the city. It is a fully automated light metro, entirely underground, with tunnels constructed using 6 TBMs, 2 used in the Central section (Tricolore-solari Park station), 2 used in the eastern external section (Line-Tricolore station) and finally other two used in the western external section (Parco Solari-San Cristoforo FS station).
The route extends for about 15 km with 21 stations and 30 intermediate structures planned such as emergency exits, WF access, and ventilation.
The fleet is made up of 47 vehicles with total length of 50.50 m with a maximum capacity of 600 passengers per train, with a minimum design frequency of 75 seconds; the line, therefore, has a maximum transport capacity of 24,000 passengers per hour and per direction.
