San Valentino School

The aims of the project of the new school in San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore (PE) are to develop a building that lives with the site, enhancing the high landscape value of the area, “embracing” the surrounding nature in a large courtyard. Starting from an urban-architectural value, the goal of the project is making the building adaptable and resilient.

The overall objective is therefore an ‘adaptable school’ that can transform itself without interruption, able to extend its possibilities and recover its forms, in space and time. A school capable of making appropriate transformations between heritage (the environment with a high landscape value), invention (innovation in spatial arrangements that can accommodate a plurality of uses) and reversibility (temporary developments), through a methodological approach capable of establishing links between the natural and cultural environment and finding compensations and connections.
